WPL 2026 :Mumbai Indians Women won by 7 wkts

Harmanpreet’s Masterclass: Mumbai Indians Hunt Down Record Chase Against Gujarat Giants in WPL 2026

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 witnessed one of its most electrifying encounters as the Mumbai Indians (MI) maintained their psychological edge over the Gujarat Giants (GG). In a high-octane Match 6 held at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai Indians pulled off a stunning seven-wicket victory, chasing down a massive target of 193 runs with four balls to spare.
This victory not only solidified MI’s position in the points table but also extended their historic dominance over the Giants to an incredible 8-0 head-to-head record.

Gujarat Giants’ Late Surge: A Batting Fireworks Display

After being put into bat, the Gujarat Giants started with intent. Despite losing Sophie Devine early to a fiery delivery from Shabnim Ismail, the Giants didn't back down. Skipper Beth Mooney (33 off 26) and Kanika Ahuja (35 off 18) laid a solid foundation, propelling the team to 62 runs within the powerplay.

However, the real momentum shift occurred in the final overs. In a tactical move, Ayushi Soni was retired out to bring in the big hitters. Georgia Wareham (43* off 33) and Bharti Fulmali (36* off 15) unleashed a brutal assault on the MI death bowlers. Fulmali’s three sixes in the final stretch helped Gujarat post a formidable 192/5, their highest score against MI and a target that seemed match-winning at the halfway mark.

The Chase: Harmanpreet Kaur Leads from the Front

Mumbai Indians’ pursuit of 193 began shakily. Both openers were dismissed within the first five overs, leaving the defending champions at 37/2. It was here that captain Harmanpreet Kaur stepped up, delivering what many are calling a "captain's knock for the ages."
Harmanpreet combined with the young Amanjot Kaur (40 off 26) to steady the ship with a 72-run partnership. While Amanjot provided the initial spark, it was Harmanpreet who dictated the tempo of the game.

Harmanpreet Kaur    71*    43
Amanjot Kaur              40     26
Nicola Carey                38*    23

With the Orange Cap now resting on Harmanpreet’s head, the Mumbai Indians look like the team to beat as the WPL 2026 season heats up.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was absolutely unstoppable, smashing 71* and becoming the 1st Indian player to reach 1,000 WPL runs! 🇮🇳🔥
